The Gros Islet Constituency Council has once again been tasked with the responsibility of planning and implementing the National Independence Baton Relay and the Independence Eve Flag Raising Ceremony. The two activities are extremely important events on our Calendar.
The Baton Relay is an event which seeks to honor and recognize persons and entities who have made meaningful and valuable contributions to Saint Lucia's national development.
This year in the Gros Islet Constituency, the Baton Relay will start at the new Recreational Beach Park, Gros Islet on Sunday 15th February, 2026 from 9:00 a. m and traverse through the town of Gros Islet onto the main Gros Islet Highway.
The significance impact and reach of this event will have a lasting effect on participants, spectators and international viewers who would be watching online.
We believe that your participation will highlight and fulfil the ethos of your organization. In light of this, we would like to request that your organization partner with us by decorating your building in Gros Islet and having representatives of your team visible along the route with flags and other appropriate paraphernalia during the Baton relay on Sunday 15th February, 2026.
We are also seeking your assistance in encouraging your other members along the Julian Hunte Gros Islet Highway to participate in this year's National Independence Baton Relay.
In so doing your organization would demonstrate its entrepreneurial commitment, generosity and social responsibility towards our national development.
Your participation in the past has contributed to making the Baton Relay an overwhelming success.
We are of the view that your participation will also impact and fulfil the role of your organization of being a great and caring Corporate Citizen.
We anticipate and thank you for your positive response in this regard.
Please feel free to contact Deputy Mayor, Sharon Ephraim at 715 0208 or the Council office at 450 0731 should you have any queries.
I remain, sincerely yours,
Lennox Dupal
Mayor of Gros Islet
