PRESS RELEASE

1ST National Bank will be the Sponsor of the 140th Annual General Meeting of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture to be held on November 27, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. at The Golden Grove Ballroom at The Harbor Club Ltd. This year's AGM, held under the theme “Building Resilience and Shared Prosperity in Uncertain Times,” reaffirms the Chamber's commitment to guiding and fortifying St. Lucia’s business community amid global challenges.

Sponsor 1st National Bank a longstanding member of the Chamber in announcing its agreement to be the Main Sponsor of the 140th AGM indicated that their longstanding commitment to being part of the foundation of the business community which the Chamber represents makes this partnership natural. Moreover, with a powerful subject “Let’s Talk Trade: What the Business Community Must Know” being the topic to be addressed by Dr. Jan Yves Remy who will be the Feature Speaker, the Bank is keen on helping provide valuable information and insights on this critical subject to the Business Community.

Already some 18 persons have made known the willingness to serve on the Board. The Election of Officers and the presentation of Audited Financial Statements takes place in the closed session of the Meeting.

This Feature Speaker component of the AGM will include a presentation from two distinguished speakers: Dr. Jan Yves Remy, Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre in Barbados, and Mr. Titus Preville, Director of the Caricom Single Market. Their discussion will focus on current trade issues impacting St. Lucia and the wider region, providing vital insights for businesses navigating today’s complex economic environment.

The AGM remains the Chamber's apex decision-making event, offering members the opportunity to engage with the Chamber’s leadership, contribute to future policies, and participate in the election of the Board of Directors. The election will appoint representatives who will lead the organization in its mission to support business interests and strengthen St. Lucia’s economy. All positions on the Board of Directors are open for election, with nominations welcomed both in advance and on the day of the AGM.

Members are encouraged to register early and attend this crucial meeting, where they will gain insight into the Chamber’s achievements and strategies for the future, contribute their perspectives, and build valuable connections within the business community.

The Chamber extends its gratitude to 1st National Bank, the Main Sponsor for this year’s AGM, for its steadfast support.
